Swan Lake is a tale of love and betrayal - a battle between good and evil. It tells the story of Prince Siegfried and the lovely swan princess Odette. Under the spell of the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart, Odette must spend her days as a swan and nights in her human form. Only a declaration of true love will set her free! After a chance lakeside meeting, the prince and Odette quickly fall in love. But, when the sorcerer transforms his daughter Odile into the exact image of Odette to trick the prince into marrying her, confusion and heartbreak ensue.
Audiences will be moved by the dancers’ portrayal of two of ballet’s most iconic roles - the pure and vulnerable white swan Odette and the bold and deceptive black swan Odile. Odette’s famous rippling swan arms, the perfectly synchronized movements of the swan corps de ballet, and Olide’s heart-stopping fouetté turns, are all signatures of this beautiful ballet.
Complete with gorgeous costumes and Tchaikovsky’s moving musical score, Ballet Theatre of Carmel Academy’s Swan Lake is a production that will capture your imagination, tingle your spine, and stir your soul!
This is a family-friendly event with an intermission and pre/post-show activities for all to enjoy! Children and adults alike will delight in choosing a delicious treat from the Swans’ Sweets Bakesale. While you’re snacking, you’ll want to browse the many treasures of the Ballet Boutique! It’s filled with handmade and specially selected pieces — swan-themed items of all shapes and sizes, hand-decorated pointe shoes, ballerina jewelry and more — for the dancer or Swan Lake enthusiast in your family. After the show, cast members in costume will be available for photos and autographs in the beautifully decorated lobby.
