Sheep Shearing
Sheep don’t shed their wool like other animals shed their fur, so the wool has to be clipped off of them. Join us in the Animal Encounters barn as our four-legged fiber friends get a shave. Guests will get a chance to feel the sheep’s wool, ask questions, and see the process up close.
Pop Up Maker Workshop
Visit our sewing station where you can try your hand at cutting and sewing quilt squares together. We’ll also be offering maker activities such as Kool-Aid dying and hands-on activities in the Loom Zone.
Sheep herding demonstrations
View this historically accurate, natural way of moving livestock that’s been around for more than 1,500 years. Demonstrations will show how these dogs skillfully get their sheep moving in the right direction.
Learn how Lenape Indians used fibers
Step into the Lenape Indian Camp to learn how they used natural fibers to create cordage and weave amazing belts and bands.
Hands on historic activities
Try your hand at various maker activities like spinning wool on an ancient drop spindle, felting wool into shapes, and helping process wool and flax.
Loom Zone
Visit the Loom Zone for some hands-on maker activites including weaving and sewing lessons. Meet Conner Prairie’s youth spinners as they weave wool into beautiful crafts.
