Planning a Wilmington, North Carolina Vacation!
By Meg Brunson
Wilmington, North Carolina has topped my list of dream vacation destinations for over a decade. One of my guilty pleasures since college has been getting lost in a Nicholas Sparks novel. Many of Sparks' books are based in the Wilmington, and he paints such a beautiful picture of the area that I simply had to visit!
We planned on spending 4 days in the area and wanted to have a day on the beach, but also explore some other local attractions. I reached out to the Wilmington and Beaches Convention & Visitors Bureau to discuss our upcoming trip and to seek out some unique ways to spend our time in the area. If you've never requested the assistance of a Visitors Bureau - you're surely missing out! The staff is so knowledgable about all the local venues and activies, and everyone we spoke to was excited to help us plan the perfect visit!
The Visitors Bureau can help you with all aspects of your visit - from finding the perfect place to stay, to finding places to play! They provided us with a list of a dozen (or so) family-friendly destinations for us to consider. Then, after when we shared the things we were most interested in, they encouraged us to reconsider the Railroad Museum, which did not make our initial list - and I am so glad they did - it was a BLAST!
If you're looking for a beach vacation that you'll remember for years to come - you absolutely must consider Wilmington, North Carolina - with it's 3 ocean beaches and award-winning river front there are endless opportunities for making memories on the shore or in the ocean... plus, they have an aboslutely beautiful historic district and tons of museums and family-friendly venues!
