Horsepower Adapted Carnival and Resource Fair

Join the fun as we celebrate the month of May with our community at a sensory-friendly, family-friendly adapted carnival and resource fair! There will be horses to pet, race car drivers to meet, and games to play - what more can you ask for?!

At The Children's TherAplay Foundation, Inc., children with disabilities and/or unique needs receive physical, occupational, and speech therapy using the movement of a horse as a tool to accelerate physical, emotional, and behavioral development, a practice known as hippotherapy.
Our licensed PT's, OT's, and SLP combine a sensory-rich, child-centered clinic with hippotherapy to yield transformational results for children facing life with a disability.
Horsepower is one of our signature events that focuses on including and entertaining kids of all abilities while their parents have a chance to learn about and engage with a wide range of community resources from vendors within the disabled community.
Sensory-Friendly Event Elements:
As a medical facility for children with a varying range of disabilities, it is important to us to accommodate as many kiddos as we can by providing activities that will best meet the needs of each child.
While the cheering, laughing, and energy of a crowd can be an exciting atmosphere, for many of our kiddos it can be overwhelming or overstimulating. For this reason, we will be offering multiple sensory-friendly activities and accommodations, including:

Accessible pathways: You’ll notice our new blue pathways in the arena: PLEASE NOTE – THE BLUE PATH IS DESIGNATED FOR OUR FRIENDS WITH WHEELS (wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, and those pushing them).

The idle zone will be a quiet space available for those who need a sensory break.

Adapted carnival games and activities for children of all abilities, including a free play area.

Noise-canceling headphones will be available, although we encourage anyone who already owns their own to please bring them.
