Homeschool Programs - Indiana State Museum

Bring your child to the museum for a day of learning during this two-hour class and explore different topics in science, art, history and culture. Adults join their learners for an interactive family experience.

10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., First Monday of each month (unless otherwise noted)
10 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., First Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise noted)
Tickets are $12/child, 25% discount for members.
Sept. 6 & 12 – Artistic Hoosiers
Dive into the Indiana art scene by exploring the 98th annual Hoosier Art Salon, learning about famous Hoosier artists and creating a masterpiece of your very own.
Oct. 3 & 4 – International Mythology
Explore myths and legends told by different cultures around the world, and discover the similarities and differences between Greek, Egyptian and Chinese mythology.
Nov. 1 & 7 – Native American Heritage Celebration
Celebrate Native American Heritage Month by learning about the rich history of Native American tribes that are indigenous to Indiana.
Dec. 5 & 6 – Rocks Rock!
Take an up-close look at the rocks, minerals and geodes found right here in Indiana, and learn how these rocks have shaped Indiana landscape into what it is today!
Jan. 2 & 3 – Natural Disasters
Explore the science behind a variety of natural disasters that happen throughout Indiana and the United States through hands-on experiments and more.
Feb. 6 & 7 – Trip Around the U.S.A.
Take a trip around the United States without leaving Indianapolis! Learn about the history and culture of surrounding states and others farther away.
March 6 & 7 – Lincoln
Explore the life, achievements and legacy of Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the United States. Learn about Lincoln’s early years growing up in Indiana to his life in the White House.
April 3 & 4 – Indiana Pollinators
Learn about native Indiana pollinators and their impact on our environment. Think about all pollinators do for us, then work with others to come up with possible solutions to the numerous threats to their survival.
May 1 & 2 – Indy 500
Celebrate the greatest spectacle in racing – the Indianapolis 500! Learn about the mechanics of cars and what makes them move so fast while getting ready for 106th running of the race.
