Historical Recordings
Every other month, Finger Lakes Opera Artistic Director Gerard Floriano hosts a fun and informative video-podcast, often based on historical, classic operatic vinyl recordings. This is the first episode of 2021 and the first program in Finger Lakes Opera's celebration of Black History Month. For this episode, scheduled to air February 1 on Finger Lakes Opera's YouTube channel, Maestro Floriano will be joined by special guest Thomas Warfield, who is a Senior Lecturer at RIT’s PerformingA Arts National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID). Floriano and Warfield will discuss the rare 1963 recording of Porgy and Bess which features Warfield’s uncle, William Warfield, singing the title role of Porgy, and his aunt, Leontyne Price, singing the role of Bess.
