Young Artist Intensive II

*The event has already taken place on this date: Fri, 07/19/2019
The Young Artist Intensive II is intended for the student who is serious about learning both foundational and non-conventional artistic techniques. While prior artistic training is not a prerequisite, students must be artistically curious and willing to seriously explore a variety of techniques. While this session is intensive, it is not monotonous—rather, students will continually move throughout the property and integrate its nature into their artwork as both subject and material.

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

The Young Artist Intensive II explores the full spectrum of nature through the inspirational lens of color. Students will discover the process of layering artistic mediums while producing individual works born of an intensely introspective approach. This session offers students rich opportunities for learning in an environment that is distinct from that of a traditional camp—not only will participants gain insight into different art materials, but they will also become acquainted with advanced techniques, both aspects of which will strengthen students’ capacity for artistic expression. For example, historic forms of marbling—using both organic and inorganic pigments mixed with carrageenan (a substance that is extracted from seaweed)—will inspire the study of various color theories and thus strengthen students’ theoretical intuition and technical skill.

This session offers students the opportunity to create truly stunning, one-of-a-kind works. Katie’s goal for this session is to build confidence in, generate camaraderie among, and encourage/nurture creativity in her students. Upon completion of the session, each student will have created a multi-media painting, a nature-inspired drawing, a botanical Eco print, and an organic marbled abstraction painting.

This camp will be strictly capped at 15 students. The student-to-adult ratio is, at maximum, 7.5-to-1.

An evening gallery reception will be held in the Grand Little Barn at 6 PM on July 19; students can stay on Friday evening until the reception.

Multiple discounts are available, including the $25 Early Bird Discount, the $10 Referral Discount (for you and a friend!), the $25 Sibling Discount, and the $25 Multi-Session Discount.
