*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 07/15/2023
Join us at the "secluded, serene, and sublimely storybook" Artisan Acres Estate in Noblesville for art camp this summer! We will learn truly unique artistic techniques (like batik and silk printing!) in a nurturing yet challenging environment while submerged in nature!

Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.

Summer programs will resume in July 2023 at the most uniquely beautiful farm in Indiana, Artisan Acres Estate

This year’s offerings will blend solid, developmentally appropriate technical instruction with an eclectic mix of art-aligned exploratory enrichment opportunities. Some lovely enhancements to the property have taken place, so there will be some surprises for returning students!

This year, there are two concurrent technique class options.

  • The first—Budding Artists Camp (with one- and two-week options)—is for children entering grades 1-5 who are interested in art and would like a broad exposure to a variety of unique media, e.g. batik, silk printing, charcoal, etc.

  • The second—Foundations of Drawing Intensive (two weeks)—is for children entering grades 5-8 who have a serious interest in developing their technical skill. This class is equivalent to Sophie’s one-semester homeschool drawing course (designed for grades 6-12 and motivated fifth graders). By the end of the course, students will be proficient in both graphite and charcoal rendering of objects and scenes.

Children attend technique class in the mornings, followed by a lunch and recess break.

In the afternoons, both classes will come together for their Exploratory Enrichment class in the air-conditioned Grand Little Barn or in shaded areas throughout the property. This allows students to gain exposure to a unique variety of art-aligned expressive media, whether culinary (e.g. lacto-fermentation), floral (e.g. arrangement), or physical (e.g. dance). This class will be taught by a rotating group of guest instructors.

At the conclusion of the two weeks, we will come together for a Gallery Reception in the Grand Little Barn, where family and friends are welcome to view our young artists’ creations as they enjoy refreshments on the beautiful property.
