Ever wondered what shampoo and vaccines have in common? Meet biochemist Leia Akre from Johnson and Johnson and find out!
Leia Akre is a Chemical Engineer who originally worked to develop cell phones and fighter jets before joining Johnson & Johnson. At Johnson & Johnson, Leia works to ensure the reliability of the active ingredients, chemicals, and materials used in biologic and vaccine manufacture. Johnson & Johnson products range from personal care brands like Aveeno and Clean & Clear, and over the counter drugs like Tylenol and Zyrtec. Johnson and Johnson also makes medical devices and pharmaceutical products that treat conditions like cancer, diabetes, and high blood pressure. Today most of us will recognize the name Johnson and Johnson as the maker of the one-shot COVID vaccine.
Our live event will allow children to learn more about the life of a chemical engineer and to ask her all the questions they can think of!
