National youth education charity, Ripple Foundation, opens its 11th annual Kids Write 4 Kids (KW4K) creative writing challenge for entries until March 31, 2023. The national contest calls all aspiring Canadian writers in grades four to eight to enter their writing to be in with a chance of becoming published authors.
Welcoming prose, verse, fiction and non-fiction, the free-to-enter competition permits entrants' total artistic license to submit an original masterpiece they are proud of.
Judged by a panel of accomplished editors, authors, publishers and previous contest winners, the winning young writer(s) will join a roster of 21 other young authors from across 10 provinces and 3 territories.
The winner(s) will see their work published in paperback and ebook editions, with 100% of proceeds from 2023 book sales benefitting a Canadian charity or organization of their choice.
“Writing is such an important medium for our next generation to express themselves,” says Ivy Wong, Founder of Ripple Foundation. “We are always overwhelmingly impressed by the entries we receive year in, year out. The contest has discovered an admirable collective of young writing talent from across the country, benefiting 10 charities to date. We are looking forward to seeing what entrants have in store for our judges this year!”
Since its inception in 2012, over 3,000 students have entered their works and over 10 schools and charities have benefitted from book sales.
Winning books will be available on Amazon, Google Play, Apple iBookstore and Overdrive in Summer 2023.
